4days/3 nights Kidepo Valley national park – Uganda. The less visited National Park gives a true African safari Experience. The vast savannah with the outstanding rocks & dry rivers harbors the highest Big game population in Uganda.  Have an encounter with the Karamojong tribe people with their authentic cultural practices (the dressing, meals, cattle keeping etc). If you have heard about the Masai of Kenya, then the Karamojong are exactly the same. The Birdlife in this area is amazing. Nowhere in Uganda will you find rock climbing lions other than Kidepo National Park.  

Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala/Entebbe – fly to Kidepo Valley National Park.

Adventure Consults’ representative will meet you on arrival at the airport, assist through customs, or (pick from your residence/hotel if already in Uganda), proceed to the domestic check-in point for your bush flight to Apoka airstrip.

Flights on this route operate/strictly depart Entebbe/Apoka every Wed, Friday & Sunday @ 1230hrs arriving Kidepo @ 1445hrs.  Flight schedules and price are subject to change.

On arrival at Kidepo airstrip, Adventure Consult’s guide will transfer you to the Lodge for a full briefing. Kidepo National Park, will be your home for the next 3 nights! Tucked in the north eastern corner of Uganda, Kidepo is a truly stunning park boasting a real sense of wilderness that enchants visitors. The mountainous terrain of the park is broken by the Narus Valley in the south west and the Kidepo Valley in the north east.

Meals and Overnight accommodation included at the lodge.

Day 2 – Birding and Safari drives.

Start the day with an early breakfast and then go for a game drive along the trails of Kidepo Valley. The park inhabits one of the most exciting faunas of any Ugandan parks, with over 80 species of mammals several of which are endemic to Kidepo National Park like the cheetah, the striped hyena the caracal among others.

The park is also home to over 465 bird species including the ostriches. Secretary Bird, African Swallow-tailed Kite, Eastern Pale Chanting Goshawk, Pygmy Falcon, Fox Kestrel, Stone Partridge, Clapperton's and Heuglin's Francolins and many more.

You will have Game drives around the Kanangorok hot spring and other areas of the vast savannah, and have an opportunity to encounter with the lesser Kudu which in Uganda are only found in this Park. Vast herds of buffalo, elephant, Giraffe, waterbuck, Zebra grazing alongside a number of predators including lions (Don’t miss the tree & rock-climbing lion!), Cheetah, leopard, spotted hyena among others. Meals and Overnight accommodation included at the lodge.

Day 3- Karimojong Cultural Encounter

After Breakfast, you will drive down to the Karamojong cultural village. Here you will learn about their culture, music and dance.

Karamojongs (porpurly known as K’jongs) are cattle keepers and can do anything to keep their cattle. They are unique for their traditional wear of a multicolored blanket -like shawl exactly the same as that of their sister-tribemates in Kenya – the Masai. They have unique jewelry, mainly the colorful beads that are worn as necklaces and bracelets by ladies.

You will return to the Lodge for Lunch.

Afternoon siesta, then after go for an evening game drive and sundowner. Meals and Overnight accommodation included at the lodge.

Day 4: Flight to Entebbe – Flight operates strictly on Wed, Friday or Sunday. Departs Kidepo/Apoka at 1500hrs, arriving Entebbe at 1630 hrs. flight schedules are subject to change

Optional game drive or simply relax at the Lodge. After lunch, transfer to the airstrip in time for your flight to Entebbe airport departing at 1500hrs arriving Entebbe at 1630hrs, assist through customs and connect to your international return flight.

Please book return flights departing Entebbe after 1830hrs
