Insight Tour of Chimps & Lions - SIT 3

Day 1: Entebbe – Kibale Forest National Park Approx. 5 hrs
Adventure Consults’ staff will meet you on arrival at Entebbe airport (right on tarmac), assist through customs formalities then introduce you to the safari specialist guide. Drive to Entebbe town for a coffee, forex and a little stretch after a long flight, briefing on your safari and start the adventure by 10am (latest). The journey to the west via Kampala will take you through tea plantations, farmlands, homesteads and the evergreen Kibale forest, arriving Fort-portal in time for Lunch. In the afternoon, proceed to the Lodge.
Dinner and overnight accommodation included at the lodge.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Habituation Experience – Kibale Forest.
After breakfast with packed lunch, slope down to the park Headquarters in time for Chimpanzee Habituation Experience (CHEX). It starts in the morning and takes an entire day which is a recommended option for photographers or anyone with a passion for the Chimps. The terrain isn’t that difficult (can be slippery in on a rainy day). It is a lifetime experience that will allow you accompany the researchers and Habituation team to the chimps. During the tour, you will come across the chimps de-nesting (in their nocturnal nests), keep following them throughout the day till they make new nests and be there till late evening. You will see how they interact with the young ones, feed them and train them how to survive on their own. Return to the lodge in the evening. Meals and Overnight at the Lodge.

Day 3: Kibale - Queen Elizabeth National Park – Water Safari. App. 3 hrs drive.
Start for Queen Elizabeth National Park, following the mystical Rwenzori Mountain Range most of the journey.  Explore the Katwe crater area and later proceed to the Lodge for lunch.
After lunch, enjoy a unique boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel and into Lake Edward. This trip passes through high concentrations of Hippos and a wide variety of animals may be seen drinking at the water's edge. This river cruise offers an excellent platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing. The prolific bird life is colorful and stupendous with well over 600 recorded species having been spotted. Meals and Overnight at the lodge.

Day 4. Lion Research (can take up to 5 hours).
Early start (around 615am), grab some coffee, hop into one of Adventure Consults’ jeeps at the crack of dawn and hit the road in search of lions. Your guides on this bespoke adventure are members of a local predator research team that has been doing research into the carnivores in the park for over 10 years.
You will become a researcher for a day, as you learn to use telemetry to find the different lion prides who roam the savannah of Queen Elizabeth. We can confidently state there is no better way to find and photograph lions in all of Uganda. Given the fact that one lion in each pride is collared as part of the research project, you can expect to see multiple prides during this half-day trip. Due to the off-road nature of the adventure — all other vehicles must stay on the allocated game routes and are not allowed off-road — close encounters with other wildlife are also assured.
During the drive, the guides and researchers will discuss human-animal conflict in communities around the park, veterinary issues within the park, and lion family dynamics as part of a very in-depth game drive.
Return to the lodge in time for lunch. After lunch, have an afternoon siesta then venture on a game drive in search for big game. Meals and Overnight at the Lodge
